Pottery A-Z Back by popular demand Jeff Burda will be teaching pottery classes! |
|
Jeff recently completed his BFA at Wayne State University in May 2008. He participated in juried undergraduate art shows, 2205-2008 in Ceramics, 3-D Design, Sculpture, and Watercolor. Awards received include 1st, 2nd and 3rd place at a 2003 juried art show-Wheel Throwing division. He was the recipient of the Talent Award in Ceramics, culminating in a four year scholarship. Jeff has diligently worked for the past eight years on the potter’s wheel. He classifies himself as a production potter, with work qualifying as both decorative and functional. He puts soft gestured indentations in the clay to attempt movement and flow. The glazing process is specific to the piece, working with a pallet of six to seven glazes per piece, achieving depth, definition, and color interaction. Burda’s teaching duties at the Plymouth Community Arts Council consist of wheel throwing, slab, coil, pinch, tiles, glazing and velvets for children and adults. |
